

16U/18U Boys Summer Session
Our 16U/18U Boys Summer Water Polo Session is an 11-week program that will run May 8th through July 18th. This competitive program is designed to teach all athletes the technical and tactical water polo skills needed to compete at the highest level of play. Athletes in this program will compete in both regional and national-level tournaments. Our summer session is open to ALL high school athletes.
Junior Olympic Team Tryouts "Round 2"
Athletes who wish to play in National Junior Olympics will need to participate in our JO Team Tryouts in May. Any athlete who wishes to compete in Junior Olympics must also be available to compete in JO Quals on June 16-18 in Clovis.
Round 1 of tryouts were already conducted for our 16U A and 18U A teams. Round 2 of tryouts will be for our 18U B and 16U B/C teams. Rosters will consist of 15-16 total athletes (including 1-2 goalkeepers). Tryouts will take place during the first two weeks of summer polo (see complete tryout schedule below).
Please note, there is no guarantee that any athlete will play in National Junior Olympics in July. Teams must first qualify for Junior Olympics at the JO Qualyfing Tournament in June.

- BLACK Practice Group = all 18U boys + 16U "A" JO team
- RED Practice Group = all remaining 16U boys

USA Water Polo Membership
All athletes are required to have a current USA Water Polo membership in order to participate in our summer water polo session. USAWP offers three levels of membership: bronze, silver, and gold. A bronze membership is all that's necessary for our summer session (including all local tournaments). If you intend to participate in Jr. Olympics and/or the Jr. Olympic Qualifier, you will need a gold membership. The USAWP membership covers the necessary insurance to participate in practices, scrimmages, and games. To purchase a USAWP membership, visit www.usawaterpolo.org.
Summer Water Polo Fees & Registration
Registration for our Summer Water Polo Session will open shortly. Login to your club account to register. If you are new to Cal Republic, you must first create a club membership by clicking the "Registration" tab at the top of the page, then click "New Member Registration." The registration fee is TBA (sibling discounts available). The registration fee will include all practices, scrimmages, and local tournaments. There will be an additional fee to participate in national-level tournaments (Futures WPL Super Final, National Junior Olympics).

16U/18U Boys Jr. Olympic Tryouts
If you wish to participate on our 16U or 18U "A" team for National Jr. Olympics this summer, you must participate in our Spring Water Polo Session and you must attend our "A" team tryouts in February. If you do not wish to participate on an "A" team this summer, you can still participate in our Spring Water Polo Session. Any athlete who does not attend the tryout AND participate in our Spring Water Polo Session will not be eligible to compete on an "A" team this summer.
HOW DO TRYOUTS WORK?
Tryouts will be conducted on five dates throughout the first two weeks of spring water polo. We will select athletes for our 18U "A" team and 16U "A" team only. Each team will be comprised of 15-18 total athletes (including two goalkeepers). Any athlete who is not selected for one of our "A" teams is highly encouraged to participate in our Spring Water Polo Session in order to continuing developing their skills AND encouraged to tryout again in May for our remaining Jr. Olympic teams.

2ND ROUND OF TRYOUTS IN MAY:
We will hold another round of Jr. Olympic tryouts in May to select athletes for our remaining 18U and 16U JO teams. More information (dates/times) will be made available in the near future.
VERY IMPORTANT: All Junior Olympic athletes (all teams) must be available to play in the JO Qualifying Tournament AND the National Junior Olympic Tournament. Any athlete who cannont make both tournaments will not be eligible for selection on any of our JO teams.

WHAT IS MY AGE FOR JR. OLYMPICS?
The age cut-off date is on August 1st every year. So your age on August 1st, 2023 will determine you Jr. Olympic age.
16U/18U Boys Spring Session 2023
Our 16U/18U Boys Spring Water Polo Session is a 9-week program that will run the week of February 15th through April 15th. This competitive program is designed to teach all athletes the technical and tactical water polo skills needed to compete at the highest level of play. Athletes in this program may compete in both regional and national-level tournaments. Our spring session is open to ALL high school athletes.
Spring Water Polo Practice Schedule
Spring water polo participants will practice during tryout dates/times, even if you are not participating in tryouts. During this 2-week period, practices are strictly divided by age group, 16U or 18U.

Practices will be held Thursdays & Saturdays/Sundays. All Thursday and Saturday practices will be held at Granite Bay High School (GBHS). Any Sunday practices will be held at the Folsom Aquatics Center (FAC). During this 7-week period, practices are divided by "RED" and "BLACK" groups. The "BLACK" group is all 18U boys + 16U "A" team.
